Most homeowners assume that feeding their lawn is just about adding more nitrogen, but St. Augustine grass is notoriously picky about its diet. If you give it too much of the wrong stuff, you might inadvertently burn the blades instead of helping them thrive.
Knowing how to handle these specific nutrient needs is the secret to a lush lawn. Let us compare the Best St Augustine Grass Fertilizers to help you keep your grass healthy all season.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize products with a high nitrogen ratio to promote the dense, green growth that St. Augustine varieties require.
- Check the NPK balance carefully to ensure you are feeding the soil properly rather than just forcing rapid, weak growth.
- Choose liquid formulations if you want faster nutrient uptake and a more uniform application across your lawn.
- Look for granulated weed and feed options when you need to address intrusive weeds while simultaneously providing essential lawn nutrition.
- Measure your total lawn square footage accurately to ensure you buy enough product to complete the job without needing multiple trips to the store.
